Must have apps for a fresh install?

I just reinstalled windows and plan to make a DVD image of the install for future reinstalls. I am trying to figure out what apps to have on the image. I probablly want to avoid often updated apps, since if I put them on the image, they will no doubt be very outdated the next time I use the image.

I already have my Kaspersky Anti virus, and will probably put an office suite on there as well. What else do I need?

What do you want on there?

Chipset drivers, other Drivers, .Net, DirectX would all be good things to include.

I got all the drivers and windows updates and stuff, I am just asking about apps.

For me, i would certainly include a Zip utility (I use ALzip) and Nero (because I use it to backup my files, and therefore require it to restore them).

Well, then it's up to you. What do you absolutely need/want?

Personally I wouldn't do an office suite, that's just gross. Certain Games, Photoshop, DVD Player(PowerDVD), Mozilla/Thunderbird would be more like my choices.

I am not too worried about games, because I may not be playing the same games the next time I reinstall. I am not sure if I should include firefox or not, since it gets updated semi frequently, but I may put it in there.


The zip utility is a good idea.
