Must get wii games?

Games I know I want:

Mario Galaxy
Zelda (wii)
SSBB
Mario kart wii
Zack and Wiki
Boom Blox
Lego - Indiana Jones

--- what are some other good ones?

If you like Zelda, you might want to consider Okami, which I found to be even more enjoyable than The Twilight Princess. That's not to say that the Twilight Princess is a bad game, but the graphical style and storytelling elements were to my mind superior in every way. Full disclosure: I played the PS2 version and have not tried the Wii version.

If you liked Metroid Prime on the Gamecube, then Metroid Prime: Corruption is a no-brainer.

Super Paper Mario is fun (and funny), but I miss the turn-based gameplay from the previous versions. Also, switching between Pixls is painfully unstreamlined.

Rayman Raving Rabbids is a great compilation of minigames, although there's a pretty big variation in quality.

No More Heroes - Just buy it.
The Godfather - GTA style game
Mario Strikers Charged - Mario and friends play soccer, has online play too.
Fire Emblem - Turn based strategy type game
Warioware Smooth Moves - Microgame collection that uses the wiimote in a lot of neat ways.

Also previously mentioned:
Super Paper Mario - RPG Platformer, great humor and fun to play but kind of easy.
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

Haven't played yet:
Okami
Bully - Another GTA style game
Resident Evil 4

I'll add those to my list. Thank you. Never had a gamecube or played any of those games so I dont know if I like metroid... I loved Metroid on NES 🙂

I'm getting Zack and Wiki and Rayman 1 from gamefly this weekend. I'm going to rent a bunch, see what I like, then purchase I believe.

Resident Evil 4 - Amazing game. Should be much fun even if you've already played it (though if you have, you already know whether you want it or not). This is a must buy, for sure.

Okami - I've heard good and bad things about the Wii version. Supposedly it's worse than the PS2 version, which is too bad. On the other hand, it is still a great game; similar to Zelda but much better in my opinion (I played it on PS2).

Williams Pinball - Lots of fun from this bargain bin game. It's not your typical bargain game (i.e., it's actually good).

One that I've heard are good but I am not sure myself:

MLB Power Pros - A fun baseball game and much deeper than Wii Sports baseball. Has licensed teams, players, and stadiums, despite the cartoonish appearance. I rented this one just before I sold my Wii.
Super Paper Mario - Don't know. If you love Mario and you love RPGs I'm sure you'll enjoy it. If not, you probably won't.
Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 - Apparently it's very different on the Wii than on the other consoles, and for once it's different in a good way. The control scheme is totally unique. I read a few reviews and the general consensus seems to be that it's quite challenging to get the hang of it, but it's a really good game once you do.
No More Heroes - Never played it, haven't even seen gameplay footage, but people seem to like it (even Yahtzee liked it, and that's saying something). One of the few "grown up" Wii games available.
Bully and The Godfather have gotten pretty good reviews too, but of course they're remakes of games that came out on earlier systems. I think those are both sandbox-type games.

Oh, and you should definitely rent Boom Blox before you buy it. It's fun, but I don't think it's worth $50.

EDIT: OP, Resident Evil 4 is a third-person shooter where you walk around and shoot guys. The rail shooter you're thinking of is Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles (or RE:UC).

I have -

Super Mario Galaxy
Metroid Prime Corruption
Zelda Twilight Princess
Zack & Wiki
Mario Kart Wii

I liked the Call of Duty Heros 2 with the Wii Zapper. Fun to play an FPS in a different style.
Super Paper Mario has been one of my favorite games because it does not get boring.

Zelda was great but after the 30th hour it does get to be a bit much.

I did not like the Strikers that much, I would get brawl before spending money on Strikers.

Resident evil 4 is a great game too.

If you get 5 games for the system my picks would be.

1. Mario Galaxzy
2. Twilight Princess
3. Rayman
4. Call of Duty Zapper Edition
5. Warioware Smooth moves/ metroid prime depending which type of game you like.

Btw forget about lego games they suck. If star wars can't make it fun nothing will.

Edit: I did not include mario kart because I think the gamecube versions are better.

No More Heroes is gloriously stylized and campy, although some might find the combat system and the need to earn money between ranked fights repetitive. The overworld is far smaller and less interactive than games such as GTA/True Crime/etc., but I love it nonetheless. The surreal sense of humor and completely over the top violence are a winning combination. But only if you're over 18, please.

Okami is an absolutely beautiful game. When you're running it at 120fps its absolutely jaw dropping. (Thanks to the motionflow frame interpolation on my TV)

On the other hand, the Wii controls sound fantastic, but requires such incredible precision that while you can whip out the brushstrokes much faster, they only work about 75% of the time. Seriously, does a horizontal line need to be *that* god damn straight? Do I really need to make a *perfect* circle?

Despite that, its an impressive game.

oh wow, didnt know that. I love RE:1 for PS. I'll add RE4 now, thank you.

Caveat: RE4 is a very different game from RE1. Whereas RE1 tried to make the game as moody as possible (very limited inventory, difficult controls, limited saves, crazy camera angles), RE4 is really more of a straight-up shooter. It's still a great game, but they changed almost everything.

Some people hate it, but most people like it. I, for one, welcomed RE4, since I despised the inventory, controls, and camera angles of the earlier games. Just keep in mind that there's a lot more shooting and a lot less running away.

If you want, though, there's a GameCube remake of RE1 (called the REmake). It's like the first game but with much better graphics and new features. It's cheap (~$15) and it's fully compatible with the Wii - you just need to get a GameCube controller and GameCube memory card to play it. If you loved the first one, you should definitely get it. I'd recommend getting both RE1 and RE4 (but again, only if you liked the old games).

wow, very helpful guys. I'll definitely rent RE:4 to see what I think. Okami worries me a bit as I seem to still be a bit shaky with the wii-mote. I'll just it further down my list till I completely grasp the wii-mote.

So I have these (in no particular order):

Mario Galaxy
Super Paper Mario
SSMB
Mario Kart Wii
Metroid Prime Corruption
Zack and Wiki
Boom Blox
RE:4
Okami
Rayman
MoH - Zapper Edition
Bully
The Godfather
No More Heroes
Fire Emblem

(nice size)

I'll go through the sports afterwards (not a huge sports fan).

Are there any console RPGs for Wii or upcoming? Similiar to a final fantasy? Zelda and Okami seem like great adventure games, but would like a good RPG as well (fire emblem being a strat RPG)

I had a blast with Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga (Xbox 360 version). I can see them not being your cup of tea, but they hardly "suck".

Do you mean Metal of Honor: Heroes 2? All the Wii COD games I know of have been crap.

I was about to say... there is no CoD Heroes... it's MoH: Heroes 2 that supposedly has great controls. I just got sick of WWII games so I'm waiting for my Doom 2 remake to show up on the Wii.... haha

nobody hated RE4, it was top 10 games for the past 3 years on gameranking until it was pushed off recently.

okami doesn't run at 120 fps. whoever said that.

It runs at 30fps locked. My TV makes it 120fps, its that special. But I already said that.

Hell, any game looks better at 120fps than 30fps, but theres something about the animation of Okami that comes out so fluidly that it just looks absolutely incredible.

Super Paper Mario

Wii Fit

I have this as well as the standard ones (Smash Bros, Galaxy, Mario Kart).

It's a blast and I'm looking forward to getting the Wii Ski game that works with it.

it's not running at 120fps. Your TV's refresh rate may be displaying 120fps but the framerates don't go up, your tv is displaying the same frame 4x.
