Ok seriously, I never realized how small my 19 Dell was untill I played around with my Sceptre 22". While I have RMAed the Sceptre, I must wait untill my tax returns all come in until I can order my BenQ FP241W. I was going to buy Vista Ultimate with my returns....but Ill have Vista Home Premium to mess around with and a modern kick-ass, high-perf LCD is something I DO need. And DAMN does 4:3 SUCK.

So I have decided that I want the BenQ FP241W. I realize that the Dell 2407 is a good monitor and cheaper than the Q, but I have read too many times that too many people are getting shipped the subpar Pre-rev. A04 models and I just refuse to take the chance. All the while I have read nothing but raving positive reviews about the BenQ.

For you owners out there, are there any conflicts with any FPS games out there considering the high native display resolution on the Q? Also, what is your opinion of the stand?

I game primarily COD2,a little Quake and COH. I will be playing FOW, QW:ET, Stalker and BioShock and Im sure these upcoming titles will support resolutions like the Q's native res. Im just concerned about the CURRENT games.

Thanks for the help.

No I dont believe it does, however Ive seen over at the hard forums that the Nvidia drivers do support driver level control.

Well, do you notice any type of lag input? Just trying to get a real world feel for the panel. My room mate has a 24" Dell 2405 and ghosting and input lag are really bad or at the very least, more than what I could put up with.

I've play some FEAR & Quake 4 on mine & havn't noticed any input lag or substantial ghosting at all, also I've played a lot of Oblivion & Dark Messiah on it & the IQ is just fantastic. Over the last two days I got bored & re-installed Need for Speed: Most Wanted which also performed very well ... I came from a 21' inch Trinitron CRT.

Its also possible that you'll luck out & get one of the models with new firmware that fixs the 1:1 pixel-mapping issue from none-PC video sources. I'd suggest you head over to HardOCP & take a look at this HUGE thread which will tell you everything you need to know.

1:1 mapping via drivers is broken atm on 8-series cards :(

You can however guarantee yourself a BenQ that has the 1:1 firmware update by ordering from NCIX. They're manually flashing their stock with the firmware update with BenQ provided equipment, so its worth the small premium and longer shipping times compared to Newegg imo.

As far as ghosting, there isn't an LCD that I know of that completely eliminates it. Maybe some of the smaller 2ms panels or the 22" TNs, but if you're looking at a 6ms grey-to-grey on a 24"+ its still going to be there if you look for it. People who have used a few of the different 24" say the BenQ has the least ghosting and input lag. Input lag really only seemed to be a problem with the Dell and my Gateway does feel a bit more responsive.

Just checked out NCIX US and...wow, thats too mich of a premium for me. Ill probably never use it as a standalone tv for HD. If I DO decide to use it, Ill be using an HDTV tuner card through my PC. No way Im letting my GTX sit idle. hehe

But from the HARDOCP thread, Im set on getting this bad boy.

Was gonna use my tax return to get Vista Ultimate.....but F THAT IN THE A Im getting me a 24" BABY!

GET YER DRESS ON HONEY, WE'RE GOING TO THE SIZZLER!
