debating between abit kt7 (dont need raid) and the msi k7t pro2 a
how fast will i be able to get my 900 going on each board with the equivalant of a super orb for cooling😕

suggestions and comments will help

also is there a new chipset coming out whats suposed to be better about it and whens it coming out (not reffering to DDR boards)?Text

The MSI K7T Pro(2) series are my personal favorite Socket-A motherboards. You won't regret picking one up.

Go with the MSI K7T Pro2a. Better board (marginally) and also cheaper. I would advise that you should get a better HSF though. The Orbs performs pretty poor on Socket As.

Another vote for Abit KT7 RAID here. Very good board, stable, with a beautiful PCB. And non-RAID IDE performance on the ATA100 controller is great.

🙂

Oops, here come the Abit zealots. Where is JohnnyGuru when you need him. You don't need Raid and ATA100 is not the reason to buy a motherboard. We have not even used ATA66 to it's potential and since we haven't, ATA100 is not gonna be faster than ATA66. Besides, you get ATA100 if you get the (All together now) MSI K7T Pro2A LOL 😉

MSI K7T Pro2....From all my readings this seems to be the board to be #1 for performance/stability and price! The raid freature comes in handy if you will indeed be using it and benifit from it. If you don't have 2-4 extra hard drives around and "need" the extra performance then it's not worth the extra dough!

Also if you don`t need ATA-100 support or overclocking ability then the MSI K7T PRO would save you some money is rock stable & a good buy.

🙂
