O well, this is the situation...

Ok... i was having problems with my keyboard (F1-F12 did not work)
So, i opened it up, lined everything up at it eventually worked... Problem was, that during this
proccess i had some how managed to loose the metal hook thingy under the space bar...

Now, i have tried makeing my own and everything, but with no success...
My keyboard is very small, and the space bar is smaller then the 'average' keyboard...

Are there any suggestions or any tricks that anybody knows about!

Please help, I play games and that is how i jump!

This must be the wierdest question!

Let me guess... a new KB is out of the question?

That "metal thingy" needs to be certain material and have certain resistance, so your comp knows that you want to "jump". It won't be as easy as it sounds!

You must be expressing the emotion of your avatar right now. Look at it this way: you lost a keyboard today, I lost a GF4 card because of our handy-man inclination, lol.

go buy yourself a newer and better keyboard, I'll be doing the same.

the metal thing did not seem to go over and reciver of any sort, it seemed to just distribute the weight?!?

Any way i can do this any other way Like sticking paper under one side?

thanx nway... (i'd rather not buy a new KB, I like this one 😱)

1) Just find a large paperclip and bend it to fit underneath the key. I suppose you could use a clothes hanger too, but I think the wire would be too stiff.

2) Go to Radio Shack and purchase a couple small springs. Superglue them to the bottom of the key.

3) If you have a secondary keyboard, use it for parts.

Do this, the honest thing:

Go buy a new keyboard.

The dishonest method:

Take the clip out of that new keyboard and return it as defective.

Hahaha, just hope they don't screw you with restocking fees 🙂

If this is the extent of your computer disasters consider yourself extremely lucky. I have an extremely nice XP2100 keychain if you really want to hear about self inflicted wounds

If you've got computer shows nearby, check them out - I got some brand new IBM keyboards for $5 each. At least I think they're brand new; they were just in brown boxes that looked to be manufacturer originals. The things work just fine.
Can't beat a dutch auction on eBay awhile ago - the seller listed a few hundred keyboards for a penny each - not something you do with a dutch auction.😉
Got 4 or 5 keyboards for a penny each plus $4 shipping each.🙂 Lightly used or refurbed, but cheap.

Since you are a lamer . . . uh, gamer . . . 😀 . . . simply CHANGE the JUMP key from the default SPACEBAR to the ALT or some other key. 😛

Uh, sorry . . . the Ferengi inside made me post this. Check Hot Deals (seriously) and look for a good (cheap) replacement (or follow some other advice posted earlier). 😉
