OK, This isn't racist.. It's ignorant.. I admit it.. but it's not meant ot be racist... I noticed that a large majority of the newly immigrated chinese girls in my neighborhood and in my college tend to wear rather expensive designer clothes... I don't really understand this... I'm not talking about Gap or Old Navy, I'm talking about really NOW fashions from labels that most straight guys haven't even heard of... I think it's great (they're freaking hot in those outfits) but how can they afford it? The simple answer is that if they're new to this country and in college then they come from money.. But the other new immigrants that go to my school (mostly eastern european and indian) dress like they're broke ass poor... What's their secret?

The world economy will be determined by the economical and social status of China. The financial markets are HUGE there. Basically untapped potential. Enormous wealth will be generated or be associated with the Chinese.
Simple, they come from a rich family. Most asian families that emigrate to US/Canada tend to be well off. It cost $$$ to move here

They work really hard for their money so they could have what the Jones have (TV culture). My gf is a little in the same way as you have describe. And she work 80 hours per week in the summer to make money for her shopping habit & college tuition.

I understand that but, following the same logic, the indians, russians, etc. etc. immigrants should be equally rich if they are attending school in the U.S. but not many of people in those groups wear $400 sun glasses.. I just wonder if all of the hundreds of asian girls in my school come from insanely rich families...

Usually, people that are here have ties with officials or they own mult-million dollor businesses.
This is more apparent with people from Taiwan.

He drove her Z3, lived w/ her in a trendy flat in a $$$ part of town (Yaletown for you vancouverites), and was even given a managerial job at her fathers factory back in Taiwan... all he had to do was date her and then marry her.
