Are muslims against paying interest? I read something saying that, but have never heard of before. They won't buy houses because of the interest, i guess they could buy a house if they had cash, but how many people have that kind of money. Their credit cards they pay off every month to avoud interest and they pay cash for cars or get 0% financing. Has anyone heard of this?

I think interest is permitted but usury (excessive interest) is forbidden.

islam prohibits interest earning/giving. i've known people that put all of their money in 0 interest checking accounts so that the money does not accur interest.
