Music you HATE from your favorite musical group/artist?

Think of your favorite musical group or artist. Is there any single track attributed to it/them/him/her that you absolutely HATE? If not, go down the list to the next artist/group until you find something you hate. What is that song and why do you hate it?

I'm not talking about tracks that the band hates playing despite demand. I'm looking for something you just can't stand from an artist you otherwise love. Something the other fans almost universally love and you hate certainly qualifies, but not purely because you like their other stuff better. You have to really hate it.

For me, the first that comes to mind is "The Salmon Dance" from The Chemical Brothers. My sister and niece LOVE it. They have a ton of non-spectacular tracks that I don't particularly care for, but they don't stand out to me as anything I particularly "hate" like this one. This is one I will not sit through when it comes up in rotation.

I hate it because the "Hey, kids! Do you like [insert irrelevant and often age-inappropriate subject here]" scenario schtick has been done to death and this doesn't add anything new and the rest is just annoying loops that can't stand alone if the gimmicky lyrics don't interest you. It's just lame, especially when compared to their other stuff.

After 15 years, I no longer can stand "MMMBop" from Hanson. Just today, I started listening to the other songs on their album.

It's crap too. :(

Can't think of any. Artists I like, I usually appreciate everything, if not thoroughly enjoy it.

Radiohead - Exit Music For a Film

on CD I skip it, always. Live it's half decent.

blasphemy!

On that note, as a huge radiohead fan I cannot stand the king of limbs album (studio). They released a live from the basement version which is 100000000000000000000000000x better and I love, but the studio one is probably the worst thing they've done to date imo.

I was going to say Magic Bus.

Haven't listened to Endless Wire though. I'm guessing I shouldn't bother?

Roger's voice is completely shot, the lyrics are whiney, and the tunes meh. Yeah, I'd skip it. The Who should have just quietly retired.

I haven't bought an RH album since "In Rainbows". I actually hated that album too until I saw them play some songs live.

Spread Eagle Beagle by The Melvins. That song is just annoying and it's like ten minutes long. It sounds like a shitty Einstürzende Neubauten song.

I hate The Mars Volta's "The Widow." It's entirely too formulaic and "radio-friendly" -- two characteristics that I love The Mars Volta for lacking in their music.

re: Us and Them - you have no soul
re: Schism - I used to dislike this song cuz it got played out on radio/guitar hero. But after a long hiatus, this song is awesome again.

I thought Endless Wire was pretty decent, definitely a step up from the overly synthesized sounds of It's Hard. That album was The Who's lowest point, despite a couple of very good songs as a whole it was weak.

I'd nominate the post Roger Waters work of Pink Floyd. A Momentary Lapse of Reason and The Division Bell can't hold a candle to the earlier stuff, I never play those albums.

I have trouble with this sentiment. Frances is the band's most radio-friendly work, and if I had to pick a song that sounded formulaic, it would definitely be L'Via.

I think TMV are like Tool, Mudvayne, Radiohead, Pink Floyd, NIN, etc; their albums are meant to be listened to as albums rather than a collection of songs, so I have a harder time singling out songs I don't like, because to me they are just periods in a larger piece. I can't think of any TMV songs that I flat out do not like.

However, I guess I can understand because I listed a Tool song up there, and it's the only one of theirs I genuinely dislike, but the album it's on seems to require it. A conundrum of sorts.

I was gonna say this too. Post Roger Floyd sounds like generic 80's crap with a better guitar solos.

I don't have a favourite artist and never listen to albums so I don't have this problem.

Damn, that's one of my favorite songs they've made.

A lot of people really like Us and Them, but I have always found it spectacularly out of place on that album, found the lyrics quite obvious, dull, and un-poetic, and the overall theme sappy. I always skip it.

I recently discovered I was right all along, the song was written for Zabriskie Point, cut from that and just tossed onto DSotM years later.

I guess the difference is I like the /sound/. Lyrics are generally irrelevant to me if I like the sound of something. With a few exceptions, I listen to vocal music as I would another instrument, with the actual lyrics not really mattering much to me.

I saw them live on stage at Soldier Field in what 1995-6ish? Worst concert I have ever been to. So disappointing.

Page/Plant was the opposite.

I think that's weird. LZ was the band known for crap live shows.

Dave Gilmour saved then ruined PF.

Time by Pink Floyd. That alarm ringing at the start of the song really harshes my mellow.
