Just for kicks I was listening to some music on the home theater. Sure it's fun, but it sounds like crap.

So.......remove all processing, all everything, source to speakers.

Ahhhhh, now we have music. Still to this day it is extremely difficult to have a music system and a home theater together. Oh so difficult.

I've said it many times that HT's and proper music systems need to be seperate, some just never agree, maybe it's my horrible reasoning :p

A new friend of mine has a system with Maggie speakers and Rotel components...and he insisted that his CDs were 5.1 since he was processing with DPLII or whatever...he didn't quite get my frustration.

Nice setup though, even if he doesn't understand it.

It's impossible to do both. Well, it can be done, but open your wallet.

I'm still dreaming of my perfect 2 channel, plus multichannel music room.

But you wouldn't believe how bad music sounds in the home theater. YUCK!

What equipment are you running? What's your source material and medium?

Long list. I listen to music mostly on the 2-ch system.

But I wanted something to listen to down in the theater while I post and get ready for the week.

But with all the speakers and everything else it just didn't sound right. No stage. Switched over to direct in hopes that it would sound like music again...BINGO!

EQ = Music assasination

Same goes for anything that in any way alters the sound. Just listen to it pure.

my HT setup is 2 large R and L front speakers.. one center channel and two small rears...

When I listen to music, only the large R and L speakers are playing music.. I don't have a subwoofer.. and with the 2 large speakers, I don't seem to need one.

Good man. Folks don't know how much they're butchering the music.
