Lately, I've gotten quite irritated with all the mainstream music being played on the radio and such...I'm quite surprised that it passes off as music..so I started listening to some older English music...stuff like Eagles, Guns n Roses, etc...anyway I came across a Tracy Chapman & Eric Clapton song called "Give Me One More Reason" (i found out hte songs name from ATOT!)..anyway I started listening to more stuff by Tracy Chapman, and I must say this is some great music! Why didn't anyone tell me about this guy earlier??

What genre does this music fit into? Soft rock or blues?

And on another note, anyone remember the song "Fire" by Babyface & Desiree?? Now that's a great song! Too bad they didn't do more duets together!

I dunno, when I was little I always thought she was a man, like I thought Cher was a man. Not a big fan of her music though.

It's a guy. I remember he did a song with Shaggy and they did a music video together...I'm pretty sure its a guy.

Tracy Chapman is a woman--not a man!

And maybe you would have learned about her if you weren't too busy to turn on your radio to FM stations or your TV to VH1 or MTV at the time. If you did, you would have heard her song so often. She even had problems with her producer/manager? I have no idea the resolution if any.

damn your right....

oh well..music is still great though!

Yeah I heard Give Me One More Reason on the radio..and then asked the ATOT crowd what song it was by giving a bit of the lyrics...that's how I got into it.

I don't get any music channels on cable here (gotta pay extra for it and I don't bother).

I'd rather listen to my dogs bark all day than listen to anything from Tracy Chapman, or any other "Folky" type singer...

BTW, I think you're mistaken when you say Give Me One Reason is also with Eric Clapton. I haven't heard that before.

Tracy Chapman is awesome, even if she does look like Gary Coleman.

My personal favorite Chapman song is Fast Car. Although this sample really doesn't do the song any justice.

Also, the song Fire you mention was written by Bruce Springsteen, with the Pointer Sisters doing the most famous version. Check out Bruce Springsteen, I think you'll like him. Also, check out the song "Slow Hand" by the Pointer Sisters. I think you'll like that song as well. Also, I think you'll like You Gotta Be by Des'ree, Crazy Maze by Des'ree, and Life by Des'ree.

Cheers.

It's out there. I actually heard it yesterday for the first time...bad quality though. Would've sounded awesome live.

Oh, it's a live version? The album version isn't with Clapton, right?

I pretty much have the lyrics to her songs memorized. Jesus, her album is only well over 10 years old now I believe. You really have been lost in pop hell, haven't you?!
