music pirating **poll**

I dont know about the rest of you people but the reason i download Mp3s is to see if i will like the album... i dont download the entire album... just a track or 2 that isnt played on the radio... if i like it, i buy it... if not, i delete it... I do have practically all my cd's backed up on here in Mp3 format though but since i paid for the cd's, its not hurting anyone...

I could count the number of CDs I've bought in the last year on one hand. I also have zero pirated songs on my hard drive.

i have about 30 cds, one i bought at a concert, and another someone bought for me, the rest are pirated. 30 cds at $15 is $450 and i dont have that kind of money.

After being gouged for $15+ for "premium" albums (new releases), I'd be glad to pay 10. $5 would be so much better though. Many more ppl would hear a bands music.

i buy cd's now

but only if i've tested the entire cd and not just the singles on the radio, if only the single is good, i'll just keep the mp3, but if it sounds like a decent album, i'll go for it

I used to dl music to see if I liked it. I still do have illegal MP3s, but I don't download them anymore unless it's something stupid like a TV show theme song, or something extremely rare (like the HHGTTG radio broadcast).

I've got literally hundreds of cds...lately I've been downloading music I already own because I'd like them in digital format and it's easier to dl than rip...

I've decided that my price point is $0.05 per song... any less than that and I don't feel that I'm getting my money's worth. That said, I will buy a CD if I really like the artist and I can get their disc for ~$5.00.

I'd buy for $5. I think the problem the RIAA is finding is that the music industry is charging an exorbitant amount of money for a product. You can buy a DVD which is ~2 hours of entertainment, some stuffed with extras like commentaries or deleted scenes. For $15 you can also buy a CD which may have ~1 hour of songs on it. The cost to produce the CD is pretty small seeing that you can get CD-Rs so damn cheap (yes I realize that they don't buy CD-Rs from staples to make their albums). I have only bought 1 CD in the last 6 years whereas I have bought ~60 DVDs in the last 2 years

I only ever buy really good CDs that never get old.. none of this new crap coming out.. I just download that stuff and toss it after listening to it for a week.. but I will definiately pay for stuff like Pink Floyd

Some here...apart from I am ripping mine slowly over time....damn boring...they need to greatly reduce the cost of singles and albums, both over there and here in the UK.

I try to buy CDs of bands that I like, but they really do cost too much now. I like supporting bands I feel deserve my money, so if there's a band I really dig, I will definitely buy their CDs.... eventually. But I honestly can't justify spending $15 or more for bands that I just "like."
