I was over near the Ritz-Carlton Hotel on Battery Place in Manhattan on Thursday afternoon, and I could hear music coming from Battery Park. I know there was a concert scheduled for Friday night, as part of the Tribeca Film Festival, but I was wondering if anyone knew what the deal was with the music I heard on Thursday? Thanks.

I think Modest Mouse played. This is NYC you're talking about, right? Wish I could have gone, but coming all the way from Louisiana would be a long drive with nothing to think about. ;)

Edit: actually I think this is a different festival than the one I'm thinking of. Siren Music Festival or something?

Yes, NYC. Modest Mouse...ok. Is there some website listing the concerts in Battery Park?

hey, I live right next door to the ritz (on battery place, right across from the park).
Anyway, I didn't notice anything thursday, but as I was walking home from work friday night (around 8:30-9), there was some loud ass concert going on.

I couldn't hear anything else (other than the music) in my apartment when I got home. It was annoying; I coulnd't hear anyone on my phone and then some people were over to watch the spurs game and the damn music wouldn't stop!

I'm all for free concerts and whatnot, but if it is going to be in a residential area, why not do it during the day (or on a weekend), so you don't piss off all the people who live there?

I would have rathered any night except Friday night. Too much going on. Anyhow, so I guess you live in The Ocean? I spent the last week standing across from your building. No, I'm not a hooker. I was supervising a traffic count.
