I am wondering if it's possible to take a tape cassette and somehow burn that to a CD? Or if there are any places that would do it for a fee? I have a really great mixed tape recorded off the radio and these are songs that aren't really readily available to d/l...

TIA > :lips:

Well, you could subscribe to an online music service, download mp3s of those songs, and then burn those to a cd....

or, if you have a soundcard with line in, you could record the tape itself to cd, but the quality wouldn't be great.

Surprisingly enough there are sites advertising sending the tapes to them and they can convert them. Dunno if I trust it though, not to mention I would rather discover my own method...so after some refined upon refined googles, I found a site that not only explains how to do it yourself, but provided free trial software. I'm about to attempt to hook up a tape deck to my system case; here's hoping that I don't blow sh!t up!

You need an audio recorder that can be programmed to stop recording on the silences in between the songs. I dont know where you would find this but it would work good

Just record as .wav files using the line-in. I dunno if I would compress, because they are already low quality as it is.

Tape -> CD -> FM -> cassette -> mp3 :Q

After recording as .wav, burn to a CD with Nero.

What I did was take a tape deck. Turned my system case around, unplugged the jack for the speaker. Took monophonic cable and plugged one end into where the speaker would be, plugged the other end into headphone jack on tape deck. Lowered the volume. Pressed play on tape deck, pressed record on software. After 20 seconds I'm like, hmmm I don't hear anything.

NOW I JUST REALIZE, HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO HEAR ANYTHING IF THE SPEAKER WAS UNPLUGGED

erm. Speaker jacks aren't 2-way, either, chief. plug it into the microphone jack. or the line-in.

line-in is stereo, btw, while mic is mono, but with radio, it shouldn't matter.
