Music for Halloween

As I was driving to work this morning, Danny Elfman's This is Halloween (from The Nightmare Before Christmas) was one of the songs in my shuffled playlist. I drive to work before the sun is up, and before rush hour -- and summer is *finally* starting to draw to a close, meaning it's now starting to get much cooler when the sun is down.

Result: I'm in the mood to listen to music that is "spooky", darker, ghoulish, Halloween-ish. Halloween obviously doesn't have the vast music collection that Christmas does, but I'm sure that there are plenty of great pieces out there. Anyone have any suggestions?

I like that song.

How about Monster Mash. Even goes well on Valentines day (Simpsons reference).

I also like to listen to music from the Castlevania video games around Halloween.

I'd suggest the whole Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack. I play it a few times throughout October.

Of course... I've already done that. ;)

A bit off, did you get the new re-release of the movie too? :Q I thought about getting it on blu-ray but it's sold out at Amazon! (Not at the local Wal-Mart though, but there's no price on it)

No, I haven't... actually didn't know there was one. I must be a bit out of the loop... I'll look for it.

Check out the soundtracks to the Resident Evil and Silent Hill series of games.

And it's not so spooky but the soundtrack to Corpse Bride (movie) and MediEvil (game) are great.

If you want something with a Japanese edge (and you can find), this cd called Nihon no Yuurei Obake is spooky and has sound effects:

$25... I thought about picking it up, but I already have it on DVD and two upscaling players. Tough to justify.

I just realized that I have Theme of Nightmare on Elm Street already, as well... I might have to check out its soundtrack.
