Music files magically disappearing from SD card on Galaxy S3

I've been having some issues with my Galaxy S3 losing/not seeing music files that I put on an external 32GB card. The songs/artists were there, I listened to them, I had a playlist of 300+ songs and now, today, 80% of that is just gone.
I've had an issue before where Winamp doesn't see some songs, but the files are there. I remount the card and viola, the music is back, but now the files are literally gone.
Potentially a bad SD card? Bad phone? Bad luck?

Any assistance with this would be appreciated. I have reformatted the card and copied the music back onto the phone, and now in just over a week, files are just disappearing.

Crap. And I'm seeing a lot of µ files in the same directory. This card isn't old, I just got it in August, but my window for return is expired. Well shit.

It should be covered under warranty. I have RMA'd cards before.

I just did with SanDisk. I may pick up a backup card in case this happens again. They're expensive, just really tiny.

Yeah it sounds like the card how old is it? The older it is the more likely it's just the card which is fairly cheap to replace.

I just did with SanDisk.

Yeah, as we've said before, buy Samsung. SanDisk is just too variable.

The age of the card doesn't really matter, SD cards are kinda fickle. I've had some almost brand new cards go bad in a month while others have been ticking for 5-6 years. As an example, the SD card that came with my original droid finally died after 4 years of heavy use, and the new one I got to replace it died in 2 months with barely any use at all.

I know this problem has already been solved for you, at least I think so. But I had the same problem with a sandisk SD card when I first got my S3. It was extremely frustrating, and I never was able to RMA that card. The card works in other devices though so whatever.

Anyways, the solution was to buy a samsung SD card. Works flawlessly now and a little bit faster too.
