OK, I have finally had it with kazaa...200 hit limit and then finding too much crap that is nothing like what I want. Is there anything out there now that can compete with the late great audiogalaxy?

There's supposed to be a registry hack that lets you retrieve 500 useless search results....that's over 100% increase in uselessness!

When I was building my mp3 collection, I had good luck with Gnucleus and Bearshare, both gnutella clients.

While we're at it, so I don't have to start a new thread about this, HOW in the world do you get rid of that little "upgrade to 2.0" Kazaa screen when you sign on?

I have 1.7.1, and I want to keep it that way.

IS there a way to get rid of this? Like a reg tweak or something? Cuz basically, it's just transmitting it's version number.

Theres's an addon you can dl called diet kaza that will automatically close this popup when you start kazaa.

Hah. Not here. I'm all for the making of mile-long parameter strings for LAME. 😛

cliftonite, yes. Overnet does that, but alas, no matter what I do, it wants to make connections from it's end, so my firewall lets nothing in (as far as files are concerned).

WinMX used to be better, but lately the ability to find files that are available (not on immense queue) has diminished tremendously. Kazaa Lite 2.x works well enough for individual low quality songs, and Edonkey (and probably overnet too) is great for complete albums in RAR format. 😀

Of course, take this all with a grain or two of salt, because I've never used any of these programs, and I don't know any of this stuff from experience. 😉
