I've used both cool edit and cake walk and they just don't do it for me. i'm looking for something to edit .wav files with. not just record, cut, splice etc. but to adjust levels, tones and the like. anyone got any ideas out there? thnx,
j

You may want to check out Sonic Foundry's ACID software, such as ACID Music, ACID Style or ACID Pro.

BTW Cool Edit Pro is my editor of choice for most applications anyway. ACID is more for loop editing, and has the features that you are looking for too.

Cool Edit Pro (not Cool Edit 2000, although that's not half bad)
Sound Forge (not Sond Forge LE)
Steinberg WaveLab

These 3 are pro-quality wave editors. I have all three and I prefer Cool Edit Pro, but Sound Forge and WaveLAb use DirectX plug-ins that are also available under Cool Edit Pro when I have all 3 programs installed. So I can use the tools from all of them under Cool Edit Pro's interface.
