I want to update my iPhone 12 (64GB) to the updated software but I can't as there is not enough storage space available. Most of it is taken up my the Music app, which I don't use. For music I use the VOX app because it supports FLAC, but for some reason the Music app taking up 11GB but I never imported music to the Music app and don't see any music in the Music app, so I don't know what is taking up that 11GB in the Music app. I have about 21GB of FLAC files in the VOX app. How do I free up the storage from the Music app but not lose my music in the VOX app?

Music app storage is separate from the VOX app. Deleting data from the Apple Music app will not affect your FLAC files in VOX.

To free up the 11GB from the Music app:

  1. Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage > Music.
  2. Look for categories like "Downloaded Music" or "Synced Media". Delete anything listed there if found.
  3. If nothing is listed, or to ensure everything is cleared, tap "Delete App". Since you don't use it, this is the most effective way to remove its data. You can always redownload the app later if needed.
This will only affect the Apple Music app and leave your VOX app data untouched.
