Mushkin vs Patriot

Both should work well, I would probably opt for the mushkin because of the lower voltage requirement (2.6V versus 2.7V). Lower voltage usually means broader motherboard compatibility (some motherboards won't boot if the memory requires higher voltage than stock).

they are both terrible... 2GB is way too low. Get 2x2GB. the voltages are also insanely high which will be problematic. the only benefit is the slightly lower timings, which matter very VERY little to the actual overall SYSTEM performance.

oh wait, its an old opteron system with DDR1, not DDR2, there is no 2x2GB for you to get...

mmm... low timing ram is not gonna do it for you on an opty... but upgrading ram amount would be useful. don't worry about their "speeds", worry about their size and price. And as for voltage, they should all work at stock voltages with looser timings (and in fact, should default to it. requiring you to manually input those... aggressive timings)
