the mushkin site rates them at CAS 2:2:2 at 150MHz...i've been reading and learning about overclocking and thinking about what i'll build my system with. does that mean will i be able to run my FSB at 150 MHz with no problems with this Mushkin RAM? is there any other barriers that could stand in the way of me doing this?

also, Crucial is makes quality memory as well...would my 256mb pc133 be able to run at 150 MHz along with the Mushkin?

the differnce between crucial and mushkin is that mushkin is guaranteed. and they see to it that it does hit 150mhz. crucial does it 150 most of the time, but not guaranteed. impedements would be the cpu to withstand that, as well as agp and pci cards. and of course, if the mobo lets u set that setting

Yes, but only if you meet the following requirements listed under the next question.

<<is there any other barriers that could stand in the way of me doing this?>>

You CPU has to be able to do 150MHz FSB as well, if you want to run your RAM at 150MHz. Otherwise, you have to use 113MHz FSB+PCICLK which also gives you 150MHz RAM bus, I believe this feature is only available on VIA based motherboards. In order to have a stable overclocked system, you'll also need components that are capable of withstanding the irregular bus speeds, most importantly your video card, and IDE devices.

<<also, Crucial is makes quality memory as well...would my 256mb pc133 be able to run at 150 MHz along with the Mushkin?>>

That depends. If your Crucial is a PC133 "7E" CAS2, then you have a very good shot at running 150MHz, otherwise, dont hope for too much.

<<113MHz FSB+PCICLK>>

what exactly is that?

<<you'll also need components that are capable of withstanding the irregular bus speeds, most importantly your video card, and IDE devices.>>

sorry, im still (but eagerly) learning here...how would i have to tweak my GPU in order to be stable with the Mushkin running at full speed? i.e. do their frequencies have to match up or something? i have a Dell OEM GeForce 2 GTS but i haven't read much on O/Cing video cards yet.

GPU and CPU are seperate. But if your FSB is too high it can give your video erros and crash you. But usually hard drives and NICS limit your FSB before vid cards.

Back in the day, people had 100 FSB athlons and wanted 133 mhz ram. So VIA let you run your proc at one speed, and run your ram at proc speed + 33 MHz

Most Crucial -7E CL=2 ram will do 150mhz easily..and it's only ~$50 for 256mb. I have two sticks running @ 165mhz right now...:)

i would go with mushkin rev2 256 sticks...

i have seen this memory go at 160+ mhz at 2-2-2 timings

its a bit more expensive but mushkin is for the true enthusiasts
