Mushkin ram sale this weekend at mushkin.com

Mushkin.com is offering 2 128 mb sticks of pc 133 rev2 for 362 which is 14 bucks off per stick. I'd like to get one so anybody who wants to split let me know.

how much more performance does it giver over all? 1, 2 more FPS in quake?

Generic 128MB PC133 is going fot $90 + $10 shipping on pricewatch now! I'd rather spend that extra $90 on another generic 128 MB! There is no way one 128 Pc133 module, no matter how good, can beat 256mb of pc133 ram.

That is, unless you have a "magical" CPU that will allow you to oc to 166 fsb or something...

I bought 128MB PC100 memory from mushkin for $70 plus tax plus $4 parking (I went to the company to pick it up) one year ago. It's insane to charges that much now.

Wedesdo: I prefer somewhat more brand name than generic (at least the chips, SEC-Infineon-etc.), but I think that if people are doing some insane overclocking, they want the best memory they can buy to ensure that the memory is not the limiting factor when increasing FSB. I agree that it's not really worth the money, but for an overclocking hobby, it might be to some people.

I'm glad I have 256MB of memory right now as I could never stomach paying that much for a stick of RAM.

Just look on pricewatch - they have gone down more than 15% this past week alone - wait until next friday, and they'll probably be $80 before shipping... But I can't wait, so I'll have to shell out the extra cash.

Mushkin has few equals.

Their chips overclock very well. Worth every penny (always better to buy when prices are low though)..

Last year at this time.... RAM skyrocketed! $70 for a 128mb stick.... hmmmmmmmm. Had to be one of the deals of the century.

Although the generic PC133 SDRAM on pricewatch are cheap, but are they all suitable for all chipsets? because I saw on one of they sites it stated that those cheap RAM (low grade) not recommend for Intel 810, 815, 820, 840 Chipsets, and mid grade RAM almost around $121

I don't think it's worth risking it to go with cheap memory...at the same time, mushkin's stuff is pretty expensive...even overpriced, perhaps...

...I've got crucial in my system...it's not cheap, but it's not overpriced, either...it's good stuff...

just get the mushkin rev 1.5! it's just the same as rev 2 but $30 less for each 128!

Yes that RAM isn't cheap but try pushing generic stuff past 133 at CAS 2-2-2. Chances are you'll never get there and if you do your system isn't going to be stable. I've got 2 sticks of Crucial PC133 CAS2 and they're great. Both companies are top notch and have high quality RAM.

well, i am not getting into this deal because i got in on that Kingston ValueRAM deal from OM for $65+tax a few weeks ago. it si good enough for me. But to comment on the generic ram, i have a stick of pc-100 generic ram that i bought from memplus.com back when prices of ram were HIGH, like about a year ago. it was like $200 for a stick of RAM! but well, it was the ONE place that had it for less than 150 for GENERIC ram at the time. i have been running it for a year on an SD11 board with classic athlon 500, and it is stable. i just bought a t-bird 700 and a k7m, and since i don't have my kingston ram yet, i tested my system with the generic ram. i overclocked the FSB and ran the ram at 2-2-2, it is stable at 119MHz, but doesn't even post at 120. overall, i think it is pretty good for generic ram, especially since i use it in an sd11, which has no FSB settings

A 256 Meg of PC 133 Toshiba at the Pomona Computer show was only 239.00 I personall bought a Stick of 256 Toshiba 100 Mhz for 230.00. Toshiba 133 128 meg stick was 119. I will purchase My Sticks at the show )

I personally have 2 sticks of the REV. 2 stuff, they cost me about 165 each.

hehe for a no money person like me, as long as the computer runs it is good. Collage students are always poor. For example, I just replaced my Diamond i740 card (more than 2 years old) with a TNT2 Vanta from overstock.....sigh.......
