I came across these on Amazon earlier, and posted a deal in the hot deals forum.

Upon researching it a little more, these drives look amazing for the price/performance aspect, and are priced almost as low as their SATA counterparts. For comparison, the 500GB version is priced at $135, with claimed specs of:

  • 500GB M.2 (2280) PCIe 3.0 x4 NVM Express 1.2 SSD
  • Compatibility: Desktop PC / Laptop Notebooks
  • Max Read: 2,680 MB/s ; Max Write: up to 1,755 MB/s
  • Silicon Motion Controller: SMI SM2262
  • 3-Year Limited Warranty

Now, apparently there is going to be a Pilot-E drive soon, and for a 500GB version of that drive, they list sequential performance of 3,500 MB/s read, 3,000 MB/s write. I can't wait for a review of these new drives, because if the regular Pilot NVMe drive can hit the claimed specs for that amount, it will be a home run product in my opinion.

Good price for an NVMe drive of that size, whether the performance is top notch or not.

I've been using the 250GB versions in some Dell Inspiron PCs the last few weeks. I'm getting 16Gb/s(2000MB/s) read speeds and 8Gb/s(1000MB/s) write speeds. But my Dell is speed limited to 2000MB/s so I can't see the full read speeds the 250GB version is capable of. But I still get several second boot times from Windows 10. I have been very pleased with the 250GB versions for only $75. And now they cost even less.

Sounds like they might have a winner. I'll have to check them out. Still have an SX6000 M.2 NVMe 512GB BNIB waiting to be used.
