yea i know your not suppose to but i did it anyways hoping there wouldnt be a problem...ok so here's what ive done, and here's whats happening, if anyone can help me get both sticks working id appreciate it, if not then o well...

i wanted to add 512 ram to my existing ram, seen here:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820146219

but didnt want the same cheap ram i ordered a year back ago, so i orded this:
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16820146889

and im using this mobo:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813137046R

problem is that when i added in the new ram and rebooted my memory speed(normally listed as 400 on my post) was only shown as 333, then when it finally booted into windows i checked control panel > system and it was only showing 512 megs of ram!! i also check my system info shown by 3dmark05 and found the section concerning my dimm's to list the info for one stick of ram in the first slot, but the other two looked blank, like nothing was in em(both sticks where in at this time).

ive checked my bios but didnt see an option to enable a higher amount of memory(recommended by a friend) and ive also flashed my bios to a slightly newer version(memory speed started showing as 400 with both sticks in after the flash) but at last neither helped the other stick to "show up"

would the timings for the 2 rams need to be set the same? would that keep one stick from showing up? the timings for each are listed by newegg in the above links....

im sure its probably a problem due to the fact that im mixing brands, like i said no problem if it doesnt work, at least im running higher quality ram now right? 😛 let me know if you need more info, Thanks!

yea, it could be another problem besides a direct conflict between the 2 sticks...oh and i forgot to mention im using windows x64, but have winxpPro setup on a second drive(dual boot)

Timings & voltage need to be the same. Which means you're gonna be running your new low latency RAM at 3-3-3-8 (least common denominator).

the timings and voltage would keep the memory from showing up? ill definatly give it a try but which way would yall recommend:
1. Trying to get both working and have 1gb memory running at 3-3-3-8 speed (and buying another stick asap)
2. Just running the new stick (ocz) by itself with a faster speed

I do alot of the more strenuous things such as higher end gaming and digital imaging in photoshop cs2!! my system is certainly not strained as is, but i bought the other stick just to help out in the future..
