I am putting together a new system, and in the past I've usually gone with crucial, but right now crucial memory has a $70 premium over Mushkin for 512Mb DDR sticks. I ordered a stick of Mushkin 512, and it arrived, but the chips on it are made by "V-Data" and the pcb has V-Data's, not Mushkin's logo on it. From what I understood . . . V-Data is crap. Has mushkin just started reselling other people's sticks?

I guess you got the mushkin basic. While it won't overclock that much (if at all) it will run perfectly stable at the rated speed. If you plan to overclock I would return it and thing about getting something better.

But Samsung makes good chips, not the best but better than most
