Sandforce drive. Will perform a lot like any other SF-2281 based drive.

Not really considered top tier these days, but coming from HDD, it's plenty fast and won't feel noticeably slower than current top tier drives.

I bought a Chronos Deluxe 240GB, it died within a month. SF drives are mostly crap, IMHO.

So Samsung 840 is better? I can't afford the Pro. This is my price range.

Or there any good alternatives?

This as well, just the model up. Looking at these two, I'd prefer a 240 drive though at this point. I think I've gotten enough rebates I can actually afford it now haha.

I know he can get a dollar per GB drive if not cheaper. As long as you do firmware updates you can grab a M4whawt 100 bucks for a 128GB M4 ?

up top is Samsung and Corsair

Make the right decision. thx gl

Microcenter has the Plextor M5S 256GB for $180-$10MIR, which is pretty good. For cheaper, the Samsung 840, Corsair Neutron, and old-but-still-selling Crucial M4 can be good, depending on prices wherever you're looking.
