Mushkin and P4B533-E

I've got an ASUS P4B533-E with a Northwood P4 2.53. I was running one stick of Corsair XMS 512mb PC3200.

I just received my 1gb stick of Mushkin PC3200, so I dropped that in DIMM2. Windows booted and ran fine for about 15 minutes, then BSODed. I rebooted, another BSOD eventually. I had read that the P4B533 doesn't run well with 2 sticks of RAM, so I took out the Corsair (DIMM1) and replaced it with the Mushkin (now in DIMM1). I tried booting; the system won't POST. It just beeps. For the hell of it, I moved it to DIMM2, leaving DIMM1 empty (shouldn't work, I know) but then it posted, went to BIOS, rebooted, and wouldn't POST again.

Does anyone have any experience with Mushkin and the P4B533? Is there a reason this doesn't work, or am I stuck with a memory and motherboard incompatibility?
