Muscle heads: I need your help!

I was always athletic in high school, but mostly because I was always on an organized school related sport, and when I wasn't I was playing with a club team.

Anywho, thorughtout high school I never had much upper body strength or anything, I was a high jumper
and ran the 400m in Track and field, I was the goalkeeper in soccer, and was a fairly powerfull swimmer.

However, that time has come and gone and now I'm a 21 year old in my 4th year of college and I'm
feeling a little sick of being weak. I'm about 6'3" and about 230lbs.

I would like to lose about 15 pounds, while at the same time getting some upper body strength
while at the same time strengthening my lower body... one of the few organized sports I still play is basketball from time to time, it would be nice if I could get back to being able to dunk.

Any workout ideas?

P.S. - I've had a pretty bum wheel after severely spraining my ankle about 4 or 5 months ago and it's never gotten back to 100%, lengthy running routines usually ends up in severe soreness in me left ankle (the previously sprained ankle) or shin splints in my right shin due to compensation.

To start out, there are three exercises you can do to hit nearly everything:

Squats
Deadlifts
Bench press

Work on those for awhile than do some research on different exercises to concentrate on certain body parts and move to a split routine (chest & shoulders one day, legs & back another, arms on another) when you have a good starting fitness level.

Motivation is always increased when there's lots of eye candy in the gym. 🙂 I was talking with this one woman the other day while I was doing hack squats, and my legs were KILLING me the day after -- couldn't slack off with her sitting there!

I find the opposite is true. Too many opportunities to socialize when your at a gym with plenty of female members. Where I train, the gym is about 95% guys, big guys like myself who are mostly all pretty good lifters with years of experience. A skinny guy walking into my gym would feel pretty intimidated, that's for sure.
