muscle cars

I love my fox bodied Mustang. Easy to work on, reliable, lots of power, and tons of options for upgrades.

Mine is not a classic like the cars listed, but it's still considered a "muscle car" I would think. Sure it's not as refined as some of the newer cars, but that's the beauty of it.

🙂

For old musclecars, modern refinement is over-rated.

I agree. 🙂 I can't complain...the car has been awesome to me for the 12+ years I've had it, and it get's driven year round..including these New England winters.

I can live without the outside temperture, miliage guage, GPS, heated seats/steering wheel...etc. 😉

My first musclecar had only lapbelts!

The police would hassle me all the time. I just laughed at them.

In one thread last year, there was a discussion about how crappy old cars were compared to today's cars. I said something like: Driving an all-steel car that is RWD with a big high output V8 and loud exhaust, that shakes you and the car is something you have to experience to understand why today's cars just plain suck for that feeling of raw power.

Heh...I agree. I still have some of the basic extra stuff...like power windows/locks, cruise control, and A/C...but that is coming out this spring.

I kinda laugh sometimes when I see the engine compartment of these newer cars. To just change the plugs you need to take off a whole bunch of stuff before you can even get to it. I can change 8 plugs in my car in about 15 minutes.

🙂

I have a 1966 Shelby GT350H....so do I qualify as liking muscle cars? I also have another 66 fastback I am restomodding so I guess I like Mustangs, huh? My 57 T-Bird doesn't count as a muscle car but it is one of the most beautiful cars ever made.

i'm not a big fan of muscle cars, and i dont like the majority of the cars that have been linked in this thread, but there are some (the shelby in gone in 60 seconds) that I will admit are incredible.

I'm a creature comfort though, so i'd still take a modern day luxury car over anything from the past.

Go drive a WRX-STi and try making that statement again.

I'm a classic Mustang fan. I really wish the new Mustang had the "step" up behind the door like in the OP's picture link. The new Charger has that but that car is fugly.

I just watched "Rides: Biggest Spenders" and the most expensive muscle car is a restored Hemi 'Cuda Convertible, because they only made 260 (i think). Pricetag: $3,000,000.

The most expensive car ever is The Silver Ghost (the original) by RR. It has not even been restored and is in excellent running condition w/ 1/2 million miles on it. $40 MILLION!!

How about reading my statement again?

Those of us that like musclecars, today's new refined cars are boring and lack style and mystique. Musclecars are raw, all steel, don't give a damn about fuel economy - make as much power as possible vehicles.

Got it now?

Uh... the WRX-STi IS a modern muscle car. Exactly by your own definitions. I suggest you take his advice and try driving one.
