Hehe...I have the best of both worlds...

I have 5 automobiles. One is a Firebird formula, and the rest are "Jap crap." --But I can do the 1/4 mile in ~11 seconds on one of my rice-burners. :) Now let me clarify:

The firebird is my daily driver. In addition to that, I have a Toyota Camry, a 2001 Civic (just bought it for my wife to drive to work), and 2 japanese motorcycles. One is a Suzuki, one is a Yamaha. I'm TRYING to sell the suzuki and the toyota, since they were what I drove before the yamaha and the firebird, but for now, I have them all. The firebird is nice, and I LOVE the rumble and the torque of the V8 5.0..... But then again, I WISH I was driving the Civic, because it just feels better for me. To me, owning a motorcycle, ANYONE thinking their car is bad-ass seems silly, since motorcycles have so much power with so little overhead. The yamaha has as much power (and more torque) than the Civic, and only weighs ~500 lbs! HELLO! Talk about low overhead! Hehehe. So, muscle car or coffee can? Neither. When it comes to cars, I would rather drive and IMPORT, but with NO MODS for performance. If you want performance, GET A BIKE. That's a rush.

I think that all of you "Muscle Heads" are just bitter over being beaten by a tricked out Honda. Svperstarr, why don't you keep your finger pointing to yourself and just race one of them ? Are you afraid ?

Ahem. If it is any sort of recent vintage Firebird Formula, it will be 5.7L.

You probably already know that though. :) :)

I would never buy a japanese car or german car for these reasons:

Japanase car although made well dont provide a "cool" ride compared to a american sports car or muscle car. No torque = no fun.
German cars are way expensive dont nearly come close in performace compared to american cars.

I would always favour the vettes and muscle cars!

N8,

I do know. It's a cremepuff 1989 Formula. You could choose 5.0 or 5.7 back then. THis car used to belong to my wife's dad. He chose the 5.0. Good enough for me, as, like I said, I lilke the rumble of it, but if I want PERFORMANCE, I'm not looking out into the parking lot. I've got the PERFORMANCE machines sitting outside my door, on the patio. :)

Zuch,

Excellent point about the mileage. Motorcycles have them all beat in that area, too. Well, not hybrids, maybe, but I can EASILY get over 50 MPG on my bike. Once again, low weight is the factor.

well theres the good ol safety factor to consider:) A geo metro used to get almost 50mpg too, but it was a death trap. The prius is midsized. motorcycles.. well those are fun, but a geo metro could kill you. :)

It all really depends on how you drive. If you are a safe driver, motorcycle or car, the thing that's gonna get you killed is the OTHER drivers. Pretty much anything that would kill you on a bike could do it in a car, too. (That is, assuming that the accident occurs because of someone ELE'S stupidity, and not your own.)

<< I think that all of you "Muscle Heads" are just bitter over being beaten by a tricked out Honda. Svperstarr, why don't you keep your finger pointing to yourself and just race one of them ? Are you afraid ? >>

Mayhem, the whole point is that if I raced every civic/integra with a coffee can that wanted to race me I would never get anywhere. I don't go through one day where atleast four or five of those little bastards think since they bought a five pound can of coffee on the tail end that they can race now. It is pathetic really. I know there are those people with a lot of time and money invested in the rice-mobiles and I respect that, i mean if it hauls ass it hauls ass, but it is all those damned fools who just throw some stickers here and a wing there that get on my damn nerves.

<< bah, camero/mustang/thunderbird = redneck cars >>

Zucchini, that has to be the most idiotic thing i have heard in a while. When I think redneck, sorry, but I don't think about a 25000 dollar car. when I think redneck I think 1978 ford f-100 stepside with a gunrack in the back window parked out in front of a trailer house. I don't know where you live but I live in Houston, TX (therefore rednecks everywhere) and they sure as hell don't drive mustangs. Most Euro cars are a waste of money. For every badass car they have there are 20 others that are overpriced and flat out lousy automobiles. Most BMWs, especially the lower end models are horrible excuses for cars, but the more pricey are a little higher quality. Lexus is just a toyota with some leather, and Mercedes are three times the price of great american luxury cars like the Lincoln LS. The bottom line is Euros are way too proud of their cars, with all of the decent models at and above the 50grand mark. Sure I would love an Audi A6, but if I was going to spend 50grand on a ride, it would have to be a viper...

Chris Rock put it the best. "You see, the difference between Jay-Z and me is I drive a Nissan Altima, and am walking around with an extra 290,000 dollars in my pocket." Another words, brotha can keep that bently.

Well, i prefer the rumble of an American car, but I have to admit that I am sick of fixing the damn things. My wife has a honda and it never breaks. So i think I can deal with the coffe can, solong as it keeps running! :D

super...it's good that you realize that there is a difference between the idiots who only put stickers and those who do things right. your first post made it seemed like you were hating on all imports. to tell you the truth, aside from all the lame asses that put BS ont their car, there are some respectable civics and integras out there.

side note: back in 92, i had an 83 rx-7 with a 13b (1.3 liter!!) with carbs, straight pipe, headers, racing clutch, and LDS. with the mustange that were out then, i think they were around 200 hp (not sure) i was able to beat them no problem. the car was quick and damned LIGHT!!!!

It's all about the Wankel. Gimme an RX7 and I'm a happy camper. And I'll stomp your muscle car into the ground.

German baby!

German cars cost more and don't come close to American cars in terms of performance? ROFL!

Show me an American sports sedan that even comes with a manual tranny.... you can't, cause there aren't any. Maybe the Lincoln (barf) LS1.

I don't care if my Audi isn't as quick as a riced out civic. It's about 10X the automobile in every other way.

American Metal all the way, more Cubic inches over less CCs anyday. I'll take my 428 CI Ford FE big block any day over a rice burner.

I had the Hondas, they were fun, reliable cars but lacked something. For my next car i wanted a V6 5speed that handled well and had all the amenities. And I found a great deal on such car: Passat VR6.

Its fully loaded and is alot of fun to drive and is real comfortable on trips. Has no problems blowing off the ricers. I chipped it and put a PRM jetstream intake on there, sounds killer, and surprises many Pre99 Mustang GT's. Outran plenty on the streets and at the track (Ennis, TexasMotorplex)

I like German cars alot, they have a certain 'feel' to them when you drive them, I dont know. Check one out and drive it before baggin on it. Also I do like some Hondas as long as theyre not done-up out of taste. I have alot of friends with Preludes and those cars are a blast to drive. 2 of my friends with i/h/e ran 14.60 at the track last weekend even with bad conditions, could only hook up to a 2.3X 60ft.

A true car enthusiast appreciates a good car no matter who makes it. The whole loyal/biased crap about One brand verse another is childish.

tkim,

It's an A4 Quattro. It does cost more than a Civic (I paid 28K for mine with pretty much every option except the auto tranny) but when you see kids with these $18K civics and they spend $5K on body kits and "performance mods" you just have to scratch your head and wonder why they didn't buy a better car in the first place.

I have owned three Acura's and they were great cars. They just don't have that feel that the German and even some American cars have.

German engineers have also figured out something that the Japanese apparently can't. Torque = good! No torque = suck!

With a chip my A4 puts out 250 bhp of torque at the crank... for those of you un-familiar with cars, that's a helluvalot for a 4-banger!

Put it this way, I liked my Acura's but I Love my Audi!

foreign cars are pretty reliable but, I wouldn't trade one for a GT mustang any day. I guess this is my good old American redneck opinion.

GUnfighter, those 1.8T's are sweet for tuning. My friend has a Jetta 1.8T with Garret chip, intake, 3" downpipe, brospeed catback exhaust, Bailey diverter valve?, Front Mount Intercooler, and a few other things I cant remember, but needless to say it hauls balls. He is about ready to upgrade to the Stage3 larger Turbo, K04 or T3/T4 Hybrid i cant remember which one.

Passat,

Those Stage III setups are scary fast.

280 bhp and 300 ft/lbs if I'm not mistaken.... not too bad for a 1.8 four banger!

You can eat most muscle cars and spit the seeds out man!

APR has the best Stage III setup... you should see what they have for your VR6, www.goapr.com

I saw a stage III A4 destroy an S4 at an Audi meeting about 6 months ago.... it was pretty damn impressive.

I've got a Garret chip on her already, it added some nice power, nothing like the 1.8T b/c it doesnt have boost to play with, but i felt a healthy gain. Car is down right now, for some weirdass reason Reverse blew out so i ordered a tranny and im going to be installing it this weekend.
