murderer makes you choose between your parents, SO, and kids...who do you choose?

in the middle of my circuits final a few minutes ago, i started thinking of this situation because of something i heard yesterday...some guy threatened to kill this girl (i never heard why).

so what if you are sitting in the backyard of your house and having a small party for you, your parents, wife/husband/girlfriend/boyfriend (the girlfriend/boyfriend has to be a serious relationship...you must be approaching marriage or engagement and be in love, just to make this fair), and your kids.

a guy comes through the gate and says you can pick any 3 of the 5 people to save, and the other 2 will die. Note: you have 2 kids...that is where the number 5 came from.

what would you do and why?


my theory: my parents would probably want me to save my wife and kids. im not sure i would do that, but thats what i think they would want me to do. it makes the most sense to me, and i know that sounds horrible, but it does.

edit: yes, i know this is psycho, but i was just curious what everyone would do.

The question is, will I save 1 parent or my SO.

I mean, in all likelihood, there's a good chance I'd wind up getting divorced down the road. And then my parents would've died for a stupid b!tch.

There's a pretty good chance that two people dating won't already have kids. So, I'd have to sacrifice my not-yet children.

no, you have kids. thats not an option to have him kill imaginary kids. it doesnt matter if they are with your current girlfriend/boyfriend...the fact is you have kids.

I have no idea, I'd probably just die trying to stop him. If I were tied up I have no idea what I would do. I can't make that decision.

I think if you had kids you wouldn't say that, but even if you would I suspect that your grandparents would sacrifice themselves for their grandchildren.

you missed the point. it is futile to engage in combat with this man. you will die. after that, they have to choose between themselves i guess. your personal sacrifice did nothing if he didnt accept your life over theirs.
