It has changed some engine parts and recommends 10W60 weight oil instead of 5W30.

Yea right, like you are going to find that particular weight at the local auto parts store ;)

I actually remember Anand telling me about M3 engines blowing up a LONG time ago...he's a big car nut too :)

They probably wanted to downshift to 4th, but shifted into 2nd instead.

A lot of people have experienced this. There is even a website that has a database of all the owners who have experienced this problem and has full info on what happened, when, and what BMW Service had to say about it.

I forgot hte link however. There were over 100 people on that page though.

it does happen.... usually to VW though.... porsche, bmw, mercedes should be pretty damn good for what you pay!!!

well...if you use the european acceleration trick (something like that..forgot the name) more than 6 times you void the warranty.
