Multitasking in Windows

I am wondering what is the best way to host a Source server while playing either CS:S or TF2 simultaneously. Should I just use Task Manager and assign core affinity or use virtual machines to run the server?

My computer has a Q6600 and 2GB RAM running XP Home. My school's connection, according to speed tests, is capable of 30mbit down/4mbit up. Would that be enough to run a 16-man server (assuming no fluctuations in bandwidth)?

If anyone knows how game server companies allocate their servers' resources, that would be helpful.

Don't set affinity but go ahead and set the priority to 'above normal' for the server process. I used to play that way all the time. You'll notice lag before the other players will.

As for bandwidth you'll probably be ok. Watch latencies as people connect it will go from good for everyone to terrible for everyone as soon as that one player too many connect. It won't be subtle, you'll see it.
