I understand how to overclock the CPU. 800mhz FSB x 15+ multiplier = 3.0ghz+
How do I determine the frequency of the memory in a dual-channel config?
If I understand correctly, the 800mhz FSB that the 6xx P4's have is actually a quad bus of 200mhz X 4. (200x4 = 800mhz FSB)
So how is the total frequency of the memory calculated?
If I have two sticks of 512mb PC2-5400 memory in dual-channel config, is the frequency of the memory going to be 200mhz x 2 = 400mhz?
What if I had 4 sticks of 512mb RAM? Is the total freq 200mhz x 4 = 800mhz? In that case, would I have to use a divider to crank my ram back down to around 667mhz?
I'm going to be overclocking a 630 P4 3.0ghz and I was just looking for a heads up on how to calculate the memory frequency. It's been a while since I've overclocked a rig.. so I kinda forgot the specifics.
Thanks.
