Multiplier Stuck at x6 on Q9550 and GA-EP45-UD3L

So, I'm running a Q9550 and according to CPU-Z the multiplier is sitting at x6 all the time. My Mobo is the Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3L without any overclock. I took a look through the BIOS to see if I could find a place to turn off SpeedStep, but I didn't see anything that looked appropriate. Any ideas?Sorry about the rating

Is this a new build?

Did you try loading optimized defaults in bios?

CPU-Z will show at 6x multiplier if no load on your cpu. Did you try loading the cpu with prime or something?

C1E, EIST are likely the terms used.

Now if it's actually set to 6x manually, you will have to set the multi to AUTO (or 8.5x)

Yup... Windows Power Settings - I had it on Power Saver and it set the max CPU Performance to 50%. I cranked it up to 100% and launched Prime 95, now I've got my 2833.0 MHZ
