Quick stupid question, couldnt find much info other than what people are using.

On an amd 64 3000+ its 9x200, and 90% of the time reading about OCing them its just about the FSB. Whats wrong with just putting it at 10x220? Does the multiplier stress the cpu alot more or what?

If you have a link just post it and let this die, other wise, learn me right.

Upping the FSB is far more benefitial to upping the multiplier. Doing a series of Sandra benchmarks shows that to me... I got the same CPU speed at say 10x240 as I did 12x200 (both are 2.4ghz), but the memory is accessed significantly faster with the first setup. There's nothing to lose, though it does usually require a voltage bump when adding FSB.

Oh, and if I'm wrong about something please tell. I haven't been in the OCing game much until today when I had a rejuvination, so I'm a little rusty.

A64's are top locked on the mult...

so if you have a 3000+ which is 9 x 200, the max mult you have available is 9... so using the 9x mult, you have to increase HTT to overclock...

....

the reason why fsb or htt is better is because you get more bandwidth (220 htt > 210 htt) assuming you are running 1:1 and some aps benefit from the greater bandwidth though Zebo's test shows that most aps don't....
