Multiplier DDR question...

If I ran 10x140 - 1.4ghz, then wouldn't the 140 bus double to 280, thus meaning I would have to reduce the multiplier to 5? Or does it do this "automaticly" when ddr memory is in the system? Please explain!

I know, the memory isnt the issue, I have that down.
My question is, do I have to put the multiplier down? Do I have to unlock the multilock, or when I set up the bios to 10x140, does the DDR memory take care of the 280 bus speed?

Nope. 140 is FSB. So if multiplier is at 10, you run at 140 * 10 or 1400 MHz.

DDR means for every 1 clock cycle, 2 pieces of info can be sent. So although your FSB is moving at 140 MHz, your memory is moving at 280 MHz effectice FSB (really clocking at 140, but sending 2 data bits per cycle intead of one).

The multiplier will still be at 10 for the 1.4ghz speed if you raise the fsb to 140. Go with PC2100 over PC1600. Good luck with your overclock.
