Multiplier changes? speedstep?

I just built a new computer and opened cpu-z and my multiplier changes non stop.. its very annoying and i dont lkike it. I googled the problem and people said to disable speed step.. but i dont see that in my bios.

I just got a amd64 5400+ x2
and a gigabyte m61p-s3 motherboard


can anyone help?



o yeah.. i would also like to know the default multiplier... and maybe a good overclocking guide becuse im used to overclocking older computers... not this htt crap and stuff

Turn off cool and quiet in BIOS

and for the overclocking guide go to the overclocking section of the forums. It's the stickied post at the top

Cool and quiet changes the speed of the processor by adjusting the multiplier on the fly

The fan speed should change(depending on the fan) based on the temperature of the processor. It's an indirect effect from the changing of the multiplier which cools the chip which causes the fan to slow
