Hey, just wondering if anyone has done this? We're looking to put together a cheap surveillance system using webcams. I'd like to hook 3 or 4 of them to a single PC via USB, but I don't know if Windows will allow them all to operate at the same time.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes you can.

here you are:

linky

you need to get the software (free)
and then you need to get some 3Com HomeConnect PC Digital Cameras (you can get them on Eb@y..do not get the "lite" model)
they are outstanding webcams. you can also get an optional lens kit that offers wide angle or telephoto views.

Thanks Heartsuregon: but I'm unclear on something. Can you use this software with any webcam's or only 3Com HomeConnect cameras?

Ok, I've got two of these cool little 3Com camera's and the multi-cam drivers work as advertised, but now I'm stuck trying to find some interface software that does what I need (motion detection) and let me run multiple copies of it, one for each camera. I like Conquer Cam, but it only has support for one camera right now :(

Chill Cam will run multiple camera's, but the upload function to the ftp serer is screwy, I'm still trying to work that out. Any other software suggestions?
