Am I the only person who can't get my memory to run at CAS2 when I have more than one stick installed at a time? I have a 256MB Crucial and a 128MB Crucial ( both CAS2 "-7E" ) and they just don't want to run CAS2 together.

I first had them installed on an MSI-6309 (original v1.0). The only settings were 'CAS 2', 'CAS 3', or 'Set by SPD'. I tried all three and the only one that never gave me a problem was the CAS3 setting.

Now I have the memory on an IWill KK-266Plus-R (which I got two days ago and I like very much!) and there are more settings. They include: 6-3-3, 6-3-2, 6-2-3, 6-2-2, and 5-2-2. The system is great at 6-3-3. Because the little stickers on the memory actually say "222" I went ahead and set the BIOS to 6-2-2. The system booted, the system worked. I couldn't get 3DMark2001 to complete a benchmark. It would constantly dump me back to the Windows desktop at random points. I haven't tried the 6-2-3 or 6-3-2 settings yet.

I know the difference between CAS2 and CAS3 is negligable to the human eye, but it's the principle! Heck, I paid like $1.50 more to get CAS2 and by jove that's what I want! ;)

Do you have the 256mb stick in the "0" slot? Usually it's best to put the bigger stick in the first slot (first being the "0" slot) You have good memory and there's no reason why it shouldn't run w/mildly aggressive settings. Im' not initimately familiar with Iwill mobo settings, but I'd imagine that the numerical settings on your board are the equivalent of the "normal" "fast" "turbo" settings of Abit and other mobos.

What about 4-way interleaving? Do you have that enabled?

I've tried the 256 in slot 0 and slot 1 without success. On the 4-way interleave there are three settings: 2-way, 4-way, and By SPD. I have it set By SPD right now. Just for the heck of it I'll try the 2-way and 4-way seperately to see what happens...
