Check out Centrix under networking the WebRamp 700s. $18.00 5 user firewall, thing is only 10 mbs not 10/100 switch, but you can attatch a switch to it. Check out in Hot Deals Real Firewall.

There is support and an upgrade that can be found on eBay for around $40.00 to allow unlimited users and VPN.

That $18 deal is LOOONg dead. and is closer to $40 before shipping. Before the upgrade u can only have 5 clients go thru it. Their is also a decent size performance hit if you have a very fast connection. Read the whole thread there.

Well, since I have it ,I know it can but here u go:

"Small Net Builder Product Review
SMC Barricade Plus Cable/DSL Broadband router (SMC7004FW)
Firewall, Port Mapping, & Filters
Like the VBR, the Plus includes multi-NAT capability with the ability to take up to 10 WAN IP addresses and assign them to ranges of private LAN IP addresses. This lets you, for example, put more than one LAN client in DMZ (one for each WAN IP address you have), and also lets you have multiple virtual (mapped) servers of the same type (FTP servers for example) operating on the same port. Also like the VBR, you can define 8 different DMZ machines (if you have the WAN IP addresses to assign them to!)."

I noticed that the router does not have any logging. Is there anyway I can see a screen shot where one would enter the multiple ips.

MBoy,

they have more for $18.00. Just ordered 1 more same price as last time. Only hit on speed has been if you have above 1.5 MBs connection. Does full logging with email alerts and 1 to 1 NAT.

Personally I feel the webramp 700s/Sonicwall SOHO is a better deal then the SMC, but as I said IMHO.

The links in my earlier post will lead you to a few sites with better details, plus you can form your own impression on the WebRamp.

Basically, the WebRamp 700s is made by SonicWall. It is a rebadged SonicWall SOHO.

This is the Product Demo There is no "High Availability" on the SOHO.

Basically the SOHO/Webramp is no longer in production, actually WebRamp went under, but Centrix has upgraded models or the $18.00 barebones, ie: no books/box/instructions, but does come with power supply.

The tread in Hot Deals has alot of information in it and I don't want to steal someones elses thunder by misquoting them. There are a few links in that thread that help explain what you want to do better then I can.

Nothing against sonicwall here either, I use a Pro 200 at work. I have an 8Mb connection, so that will slow me down trmendously at home, but I may pick one up if I can still get it for $18. Last time I checked they were sold out of the barebones 1. If you have a 1.5mb or under connection, then the webramp is fine (provided you dont mind spending more to support more then 5 lan ips. I couldnt take a 90% speed hit and be happy tho ;-)

EDIT**** Ah what the hell, just ordered one for $18 since they back in stock :)
Ordering the upgrade as well. I will see how much of a hit I take on my connection. I think i will just use it as a firewall and let me SMC to the routing for me as it is a much better :router" then the webramp, altho the webramp of course, is a much better firewall :)

You know I might have to pick up one of those webramps and use it as a firewall. For 18$ bucks you can't beat that. The connection that I will be putting it on has a business flavor of roadrunner cable. That runs an exchange email server web server and ftp server. Normally there commection runs at 2044 up and 367 down. I'm in the process of moving to another package that will give a solid 1.5 up.

yup, and I can make nice easy Ipsec VPN to my sonicwall at work after I get the IC upgrade chip for the webramp.
Still use my SMC as the router I imagine tho.
