I don't quite get people who get new flagships every year. With prices for decently good phones fairly cheap now, I've been using two devices for a while now. One device for music/podcasts, games, and web browsing. Another for phone functions.

Battery life on phones still isn't really that good, but they're so cheap now and are still small enough that it's pretty affordable to just carry two devices instead of carrying around one device and like a power bank.

In the past I've had a Windows Phone and Android phone on me most of the time. Now I have an Android phone (rooted and ROMed 2013 Moto X) and a 6th gen 64GB iPod Touch. Mostly I have the iPod Touch to catch up on what's going on with iOS, but it also makes a good music player and lets me use some of the iOS only apps. Currently furiously checking for news on 9.2 jailbreak. :( I also have a LG Tribute 2 that's purely a backup phone.

If Microsoft is working on a Surface phone, I'll probably go back to Windows Phone as my primary again and carry that, the Touch, and possibly my Moto X as well. I also have my Surface Book with me half the time. :D I'd carry a Chromebook and/or a Linux device (though SSHing into my server is effectively good enough... and I probably should have a VM on my Surface), too, if it were practical. Gimme all the OS'... except Mac OS... don't really have a use for Mac OS at the moment, though there are a handful of OS X apps that have intrigued me.

I've been meaning to get a newer Moto X, an Idol 3, Nexus 5X, or a ZenFone 2 to replace my Moto X at some point, but it's holding up well enough that it's hard to justify buying even an inexpensive mid-range replacement. I also like being back with a 4.7" display device after having used a 6" phone and a 5" phone for a while.

Ugh I'd hate to carry two devices on me as generally I don't carry a bag. So you stick both in one pocket? One each in two pockets?

And what's not to understand. Some people like gadgets and the money spent once a year isn't very significant, especially after selling your old phone. Going from my Note 4 to Note 5 64GB cost all of $250 after promos and stuff. Not much money in the grand scheme of things.

And with computers, TVs, etc all plateauing, guys need something to spend money on to keep them amused. Though in truth, phones are getting pretty boring year to year. My wife who's a casual user of phones can barely tell any difference between her iPhone 6 and 6S besides the color.

I used to carry two devices when I still used my Blackberry (almost strictly for Blackberry Messaging purposes). I also sometimes carry around my iPod Touch 5th gen for music/light gaming purposes. I do this maybe once a week.

Devices are usually in the top jacket pocket, one on the left, one on the right.

I carry my lgv10 for myself and a note 4 as a work phone. Each has a 128gb sd card and pretty much emulate each other.

I did for a while, but it got annoying. It's just twice as many things to charge, check and dick with. I use Google Fi on a 5x and have a google voice account associated with another google email address that I can use for a "work line". Battery life is fine and I'd rather just toss in a small charger to top things off than lug another device. 20 minutes on a charger and I'm back up another 50% in life.

Unfortunately, I have to carry multiple devices due to work (S5, Note 5 and iPhone 6s). My company and my client both require Mobile Iron to access email and I don't want that on my personal phone.

Otherwise, why would someone purposely carry two phones unless necessary for work?

Geeks with a lot of money. And for a while, there were celebs who'd carry a BlackBerry around simply because they liked the keyboard. That's why Ryan Seacrest and crew made that knock-off Typo keyboard for the iPhone, so they could have the device they really wanted (the iPhone) without giving up BlackBerry's physical buttons.

I carry two devices around, a work issued iPhone 6 Plus and my personal Nexus 6P. Twice now I have tried to only use the iPhone, but I just can't do it.

I have 3 and carry 1 most days. When I go for a run I leave my OPO at home (with the SIM card in it) and just carry my Moto X 2013 (with no SIM) for GPS and podcast playback. I just play with WP on my Lumia 520, it never leaves the house with me.

Why in gods name would you carry an extra phone instead of a battery pack if your only concern is battery power? You know what's cheaper than a phone? A portable battery: http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-...e=UTF8&qid=1451999598&sr=8-8&keywords=battery

It's the same size as a phone, has at least 3x the battery capacity as a phone, and you don't have to keep it updated or anything. I'm beside myself thinking anybody would seriously think that an extra phone makes a better portable battery than an actual portable battery.

I don't carry 2 devices, but I keep my old LG G2 in my car always plugged in and I use it for streaming BT music etc. If I ever wreck my main phone on the road I figure I can put the sim card in the LG G2 and use it to get by.

Generally have my Lumia 929/Icon on me, on my main Verizon line (with unlimited data).

Frequently carry my Nokia 808 Pureview (on an AT&T GoPhone line with no data) for the camera, GPS, media abilities, etc.

Will likely dump Verizon (or change plans) later this year. Will see what happens then.
