Multiple Monitor Setup Help

Honestly I don't know if what I'm trying to do is even possible. If it's not just let me know so i can return all the stuff i bought lol

What I'm trying to do is hook 4 monitors up to my graphic card (XFX HD 6870). Normally I just use 2 monitors, a 23in LG through hdmi and a 19 in LCD though a VGA adapter into a DVI port.

There are two more Display Ports on my graphics card though so I thought it might be possible to hook up the 2 free monitors I just got from a friend. I went and bought DP to DVI adapter and plugged everything in and 1 of the 2 monitors is being detected but nothing is actually appearing on the screen.

If someone could help me figure this out I would greatly appreciate it.

If you haven't yet try the monitor that is connected via DVI on the other DVI port. With using the HDMI port only one of the DVI ports will work.

Im not really sure what your trying to say here. I have all of them connected in a row from top to bottom already

IDK the difference honestly. This is a first time doing this for me.

That quite clearly states in its description its a passive adapter. That is why it doesn't work. You need an active DP adapter, and any adapter that is active will state it in its description. Its vital you get active adapters, and ideally choose an active adapter from AMD's recommended list because then you can ensure compatibility.

The HDMI police will get you.

I imagine it is best if all 4 monitors use the same drivers and the same type of plugs/interface. Adapters just mean you are getting a reduced quality video.

Obviously the object is to invest $1,000-$2,000 for the video card, monitors and stands.

The active adapters are only $5 more at MC. Just exchange them there.
