I was setting up e-mail accounts on Outlook XP for a 4 person family. Each person has their own login under Windows XP and wanted e-mail access through Outlook. Pretty straightforward...
The problem began when I would open up Outlook in any one of 3 accounts. I would close it, attempt to Log Off, or Shut Down, and I would get a message "Outlook.exe is not responding" or something to that effect. I could End Now which would terminate Outlook.
Basically, once I closed Outlook, an instance of outlook.exe would remain running as a Process in Task Manager. If I did not forcefully close that process, logging off or shutting down would be hampered by that not-responding message.
I searched the MS Knowledge Base and came up with this. The solutions proposed did not seem applicable.
My line of attack will be to see what is different under that 1 user account that is working normally. Also, Service Pack 1 was never installed on that system, and I am fairly certain that Office Update was never performed. Beyond that, I am stumped.
Has anybody dealt with this before? Any advice or solutions?
