I built a system with the aforementioned motherboard and 533MHz Prescott (2.4), installed XP Home with SP2 integrated on a new hard drive, and this is what my Device Manager looks like under System Devices:

I installed the latest chipset .INF from the Hyperion driver but nothing changed. I uninstalled all six entries but they came back. Are there supposed to be that many VIA Standard Host Bridges?

I haven't used a newer board yet, so I'm not sure if that's normal...but when you uninstalled them, did you do it from safe mode? Occasionally, I have issues with deleting stuff from Device Manager in normal mode. Seems to keep coming back unless I remove while in safe mode.

Just a thought.

Hi! I tried Safe Mode but they were re-detected again. I installed XP with no PCI cards, all integrated devices disabled except video. Then I wiped the disk and installed XP again using an AGP card instead of integrated video. I even tried uninstalling then disabling all USB controllers, thinking it was related, but no change!

I don't think there is supposed to be this many entries for VIA Standard Host Bridge, but its been a while since I've built a P4 system so I can't be certain. I sent a support request to ECS yesterday, but no reply as of this writing.

Doesn't seem to cause any problems because the system runs like a dream.
