Multiple hard drive enclosure?

If you want an "enclosure" that will turn them all into a RAID or JBOD array or the like (and work on any sort of system), you're looking for a NAS.

If you just want three removable drives... why the hell would you want to put them in one big, heavy enclosure? Unless you're looking for a multi-drive hotswap enclosure.

I just want them all in one enclosure. I don't feel like having 3 enclosures sitting on top of my new Shuttle XPC.

I can't seem to find any multi-bay external enclosures for more than two drives that aren't fairly nice hotswap enclosures. Most of them are also FireWire800-based (which makes sense; a single USB2.0 or FW400 connection would bottleneck four hard drives badly if you used them as a RAID array).

My advice would be to suck it up and just use three single-drive enclosures, since it'll cost a lot less. I'm sure if you look around you can find some that are as garishly ugly as the average Shuttle XPC. 😛
