Hey guys...

I'm at work, and I need to have 2 monitors... but I dont have 2 monitors... I need some software that allows me to switch between 2 virual desktops I guess... Has to be free, and has to be moderatly stable if at all possible...

Anyone have any good reccomendations ?

Thanks in advance,

If you have an Nvidia video card then NView that is part of the newer drivers allows you to create multiple virtual desktops.

ultramon will do it i beleive but thats not free.

you could always install Litestep

there should be an option on the ATI cards to do it also if you have one of them

Multiple desktops on Windows sucks, the few implementations I've tried all had little annoyances that really get on my nerves the more you use them. I'm a big proponent of virtual desktops, I have all my machines configured with 6 or 7 of them, but on Windows it just sucks. Maybe if you tell us what you're trying to accomplish we can come up with something that doesn't suck too bad.

Okay, well here is my situation.

I am doing techncal support for an online computer company in both Canada and the USA. I wanted to have 1 screen with all my Canada related information, and 1 screen with all my USA related information. Right now I have about 15 windows open down at the bottom, plus my email, plus my customer information programs, etc. So you can imagine everything is crammed to hell down there. So I just thought it would be easiest to have it so when a Canadian customer called, I could go to monitor 1 and deal with it, and then when an American customer called I could switch to the American screen and go from there...

How would you guys deal with the situation at hand ?

Actually that's not a bad idea, I do a similar thing on my machines splitting things up between the 6 desktops and just hitting alt+# to get to desktop #.
