Multiple Computers with one mouse/keyboard/monitor

Hi there, I am looking at this as I want another PC runnign here without the clutter of all these extra components.

First question, is this any good?

2nd, is there a delay when playing games etc?

3rd: Is there a degradation in picture quality?

4th: How do you connect all of the vga ports to the one on the switch?

Thx, much appreciated

Hey edjam. If you take a look at that Linksys KVM switch, you'll notice that each side has an input for a different cable. Now consider plugging cables for 4 computers into each side, and you'll get a LOT of clutter. Some of the better KVM switches are the Belkin KVM switches or the D-Link KVM switches. These two allow you to plug the cables into the back to the footprint on your desk will be smaller. I work with a Belkin 8-port at work, and there is about a 1-2 second delay in switching, but the picture quality looks pretty good to me. Some of the picture quality varies from computer to computer, but I think that's because of the video card.

When you buy the KVM, it doesn't come with cables. You would plug your monitor, keyboard, and mouse into the area known as the console. You will have to purchase additional cables to plug the other computers into the KVM, and you would use it that way. Hope this helps.

This has helped immensely, thx. It's a long story, but the only thgn stopping me getting XP is thelack of PDA drivers for it for my model, and I as gonna build a new PC etc etc for the PDA and some gaming, thx again.
