Multiple-clicking of links required in new DSL setup?

Just set up DSL at my place... some problems. Both myself and the gateway computer, running Win2K ICS, is having this problem of having to click on an http link once, twice, sometimes thrice, to be able to get the page to load. Once it starts loading however, it does it fast like it should and loads all parts of the page. Don't understand why it would need multiple clicks though. As I mentioned before, the sharing computer is Win2K Professional SP1 running ICS. Our DSL service is Bell Sympatico HSE if that means anything to you -- it uses PPPoE. The NIC connected to the LAN is some no-name brand (NDC perhaps? Macronix MX98715) and the NIC connected to the Nortel DSL modem is a Linksys LNE100TX rev 2.00. Any ideas are appreciated.

Also we're using the default "access manager" provided by the ISP which came with some default PPPoE driver. Any such thing as an alternate "optimized" driver? I've heard of it, but not seen it anywhere...

what browser are you using?

i have actually experienced clicking errors with IE5.1 on win98se.

i doubt the clicking is due to the type of connection... it makes no sense to me...

Once again I figured out my own problem... it's because over a PPPoE connection, the MaxMTU should be set to 1492. Mine was set to 1500. Multiple clicking was required, because the first click sent a packet at 1500 which got lost, and I guess multiple clicks must have downsized the packet size or something, which is why they went through. Did I mention... DSL SUCKS!
