Multiple but independant vid cards?

I've got a 785G mobo and have been using the onboard video along with a 3870 vid card to power 3 monitors thanks to AMD's surroundview tech. Now that the 5450 vid cards are out, I was thinking of getting a new mobo with two vid cards slots and running both cards independantly but is this possible? I would want my main monitor and my HDTV hooked up to the 3870 card and the 5450 connected to my aux monitor. Thanks.

You know I was about to ask a question like that too. I wanted to use an ATI and Nvida video card on one PC just to use 4 monitors. Has anyone ever try this. What drivers do you install first? Does it detect the both video cards? What OS would be better XP, Vista, 7? Anyone?
