Multiple AP Wireless Network w/o expensive APs?

Is there a way to make a multiple point wireless network without getting the more expensive range of APs?

I have two buildings here I'm working with, and although an AP in one would probably reach to the other the signal would be bad. I'd like to put on in each, right next to the switches.

The thing I see that may be a problem, is that I could make two nets with the same name and WEP key, but then would they interfere with each other. I'm sure you could get some crosstalk from one building to the other, especially if you were next to the window or something.

What models of APs should I look at that can do this. I know it can be done with the Ciscos, and something like the ORiNOCO AP-1000 I have at home, but they tend to be cheap here, and this is not "necessary", but if I could find a couple of $150 APs to do it, I could probably get the funding.

Looking at the Linksys data sheets, they support roaming. Just changing the channels on the AP. There are 3 frequencies that do not interfere at all with each other. Set one ap to 2.412, one to 2.437, and one to 2.462 and they will not interfere with each other.

Edit. Looking at there literature, they are using channels in the GUI. Channel 6 is default which is probably 2.437. Channel 1, 6, and 11 should correspond to the actual frequency numbers above.
